Skillshare

Learning and Sharing for a Sustainable Future

Sharing practical skills and knowledge about sustainable ways of living helps Chesterfield become a stronger, more self-sufficient community.

What We Do

We run short activity workshops for small groups from the community. These are free or low cost sessions run by volunteers who share their skills with others. Sometimes, activities are requested by members of the group and we try to find a local person who is willing to share the knowledge that we need. More often than not, someone within the group can offer a workshop using their hidden talents!

We have offered a diverse range of topics for skill-share workshops, including:

  • Bike Maintenance

  • Breadmaking

  • Chicken keeping

  • Composting

  • Cyanotype Pictures

  • Darning and Mending

  • Fruit Tree Pruning

  • Green Cleaning

  • Computer Skills

  • Jams and Preserves

  • Knitting

  • Recycled Papercrafts

  • Seed collecting

  • Solar photovoltaics

  • Sustainable Christmas Decorations

  • Simple Machine Sewing

  • Upcycled Jewellery

  • Upcycled Fabric Ideas

  • Wildflower identification

  • Christmas Wreath Making

What’s your hidden skill that you can share to encourage more sustainable living?

“Taking part in various skillshare workshops has helped me to get to know new people, try new activities and learn new skills. Its much more fun learning with peers rather than in a classroom”
