Home Energy Saving
Cut bills. Cut carbon. Keep warm.
Reducing energy use at home is one of the most effective ways to lower household bills and improve comfort.
It also plays a significant role in responding to the climate emergency, with domestic energy use accounting for around a third of Derbyshire’s carbon emissions. Practical steps to save energy can deliver immediate benefits while contributing to longer-term environmental goals.
What We Do
Transition Chesterfield provide advice and encouragement to anyone who wants to reduce their home energy bills and carbon footprint. We have produced an energy saving leaflet with simple and low cost energy saving measures for the home and our Resources section as a list of other useful organisations and resources.
We also run eco-home events, both face to face and online, with the opportunity to meet and ask questions of homeowners who have experience of making their homes more eco-friendly. There are recordings of some of the past online events on insulation, air source heat pumps, solar PV and other home energy measures in the Resources section below. In Autumn months, we often hold draught-excluder workshops, where you can learn a simple home-made method of keeping warmer inside.

Energy Saving Tips
The leaflet below (available in pdf here) shows various energy saving measures. Cost savings are based on 2022 prices.
