After the success of Potato Day 2009, we're going to do it all over again, but with a few changes. We'll be indoors, in The Pavements, in the shop opposite Tesco's, on Saturday, 30 January.
We'll be selling the seed potatoes ourselves. These come direct from Jamieson Brothers of Annan, Scotland. We'll have 68 varieties, selling for 12p/tuber. For a complete list of varieties, click here.
For centuries both men and women have made rag rugs, creating simple or complex designs from old fabric.

Transition Chesterfield are having a stall at the Energy Saving Week exhibition being held in Chesterfield Town Hall on Thursday 22nd October. The event is open to the public from 12.00 until 7.30pm.
Green Drinks is going all experimental and trying out a new venue this month. Unfortunately Chandler's Bar is double booked, so we're off to The Royal Oak in the Shambles on Wednesday. Andy says they have some local beer on tap, it's nice and cosy, and they are keeping the top bar open just for us! Turn up any time between 7pm and 10pm on Wednesday 7th October for an evening of chat, news, plotting the revolution, and so on.
Last week we published a special Transition Chesterfield report calling for more action to make walking and cycling to school easier and safer in Chesterfield. Walking and cycling have loads of health and environmental benefits, but we are often lacking basic facilities such as safe crossing points on busy roads near schools.It's European Car Free Day next Tuesday, and, though Chesterfield will probably not quite manage to go totally car free for the day, we thought we'd do a special bike ride to celebrate!
