Hi - is there anyone else out there who lives East of the M1 in the Whitwell/Cresswell/Barlborough/Clowne area and wants to meet up to se if we can do anything locally???

Have you tried speaking to the people at Mastin Moor Community garden?  They are almost East of the M1 and might now of any locally 'greenish' groups to tap into.

Whitwell Green Cafe

Thanks - I'll try and make some contact.

Here in Whitwell a rather unique opportunity has just come-up to establish a green cafe/hub right in the middle of the village. I'm happy to provide the capital funding but we need some ideas, enthusiasm and experience to make it happen.

We're open to suggestion as to how it opeates - clearly Organic Heaven is highly influential and we've got good sources of local food.  The dream is to recreate a local meeting point style cafe (think Greenwich village c1960) which acts as the hub to develop and support networks for low carbon living (over a cup or two of good fair trade coffee of course!!). Being honest my experience is entirely from the customer perspective although I should know a thing or two about food hygiene as I used to be an Environmental Health Officer.
