Transition Chesterfield has reached a really important and exciting point. We'd like to invite you to celebrate what we’ve achieved so far, and help us set off on the next stage of our adventure. We're putting on a special event on Saturday 18th April, and all the best people in Chesterfield are sure to be there...
Transition Special – launch of working groups and AGM
Saturday 18th April, 2:30pm-4:30pm
Main Hall, Assembly Rooms (upstairs in Market Hall), Chesterfield
This is a special event (hence the title). In fact, it’s really two events rolled into one. The launch of our first Working Groups, and our first Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Working Groups
So far, all Transition business has been organised by the Steering Group, which has generally been meeting every few weeks. But there are now so many ideas and projects and events on the go that the steering group can’t handle them all by itself! At the same time, there are many of you who want to get more involved, and of course the real point of Transition is about “unleashing the collective genius” of the whole town. So we’re now hoping you’ll step forward to help us form Working Groups that will specialise in areas such as Food, Energy, Local Economy, Transport etc. On 18 April, you’ll get a chance to hear about the groups, share your ideas and enthusiasm, discuss potential projects, and meet other people who want to join in.

AGM
This is less exciting, so we’ll try to keep it short. At the beginning of the event, we’ll have a short presentation on what we’ve achieved in the past year and where we’d like to go in the next year. You will also hear a very brief report from our Treasurer. At the end of the event, we’ll elect a new Steering Group, and appoint a new Secretary and Treasurer. These are all required by our Constitution,
which you can see here. Technically, to be an official member of Transition Chesterfield, you have to come to an AGM and fill out a very simple form. If you can’t make it, you’ll still be on our email list, so don’t panic.

As well as the working groups and the AGM, we’ll have tea and coffee and biscuits available, plus a big map of Chesterfield to play with, a Transition banner to sew, and plenty of time to meet other fantastic Transition people.
We look forward to seeing you there!
