We are all so used to throwing things away when they are old / broken it comes as a very pleasent surprise when they can be repaired.
Take my hoover, well its a Dyson actually, cleaning away this morning it started to smell of burning and died. Straight to the internet to look for prices of new ones, nearly ordered a new one from Dyson's own website (at vast expense - though cheaper than else places) when I saw a note about recycling old machines. So I phoned their helpline where I chatted to a lovely lady who told me that for a set fee of £60 an engineer would come to my home in a couple of days time and fix whatever is wrong (including parts) and give a a further 1 year's guarantee on everything he fixed.
Time to change habits and look at the 'can it be fixed' avenues more often.
