Our very own logo!

logoThis is our very own Transition Chesterfield logo, which we are really pleased with! It will soon be appearing on the title of this website, and on all our posters, fliers, signs - and maybe even on t-shirts, banners, bags and more. There's a bit of a story behind this logo, so read on, to find out how it came in to existence...

As you know, we started the search for a logo when we launched a logo competition around Christmas time. Unfortunately we had very few entries, so the deadline for the competition was extended, and we were delighted when a couple more people sent in their artwork.

In February, the judging panel (made up of everyone from the steering group who hadn't taken part in the competition) met to decide on winner. And it was a really difficult job! We were really impressed by the thought, effort and talent that had gone in to all the logos. A huge thank you to everyone who entered the competition

After some deliberation and discussion, we came up with an idea to combine the best bits of our two favourite logos. Paul had designed a logo incorporating the spire, the sun, a colliery wheel, and sillhouetted figures representing our community. Andy had a created a logo incorporating the sun, the spire, and an upbeat informal font. As you can see, the final logo uses the spire and sun which both Andy and Paul included, plus the people from Paul's entry and the writing from Andy's entry.

Fortunately, both Andy and Paul were happy with our 'hybrid' creation, and have given it their blessing. So, congratulation to our joint logo competition winners - who will be sharing a prize kindly donated by Organic Heaven. We hope you will soon be seeing your logo appearing all over Chesterfield...
