Many 'Transitioners' have concerns about the food generally available in our shops. We like to seek out local and, or ethical suppliers or best of all 'grow your own'. There are many allotment sites in Chesterfield or use a section of your garden to grow some crops.
Transition Chesterfield started the successful 'Potato Day' a few years ago to supply good quality seed potatoes in January. The day is usually towards the end of January when we take over an empty shop in the town for a day.
We are also supporting the Chesterfield Food Co-op which is hoping to start during 2013.

Garden Buds
Garden Buds is a scheme to match people who have garden space they don't use with gardeners who have the time and inclination to tend it. It is being trialled in the Holmebrook and Rother Ward, which is where the gardens need to be, but gardeners from anywhere are welcome to take part. The project gets underway quite soon, when we will post more details.
