Following the previous requests for a climate party in or near Chesterfield, may I suggest this one?

LATEST NEWS:
***Great Climate Swoop Planning Meeting***
Last Saturday, around 60 people shot their way up, down and side-ways, to
Nottingham, to get plotting and planning for what looks like it's going to
be one of the most massive of mass actions on climate change this planet's
ever seen. The momentum's building fast, but if we really want to make
sure fossil fuels get left in the ground, we need everyone to drag along
as many people as they can to come and imagine a future without coal.
Here's what you need to know:
The Great Climate Swoop will be made up of spectacular array of
self-organising blocs and independent affinity groups that will descend on
Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station on Saturday 17th October. We'll start at
around midday, and stay for 24 hours. More details on the blocs,
transport, accommodation, food and other logistical issues will be
published very soon. And plans for family and child friendly spaces and
accessible routes are well under way. For now, spread the word and help
make this the most spectacular mass action yet. Because you never know,
who you know, who might be up for coming along!
Here are some ways to get involved:
**Outreach**
We need people to get things happening in their neighbourhoods. We're
still looking for Regional Coordinators for Scotland, Wales, the South
West, the West Midlands, East Anglia and the South Coast. These are the
people who'll be contacting community groups, faith groups, students,
climate campaign groups, trade unions etc in their area, to get them
excited about the swoop. They'll also be roping in as many other activists
as they can to help spread the word, and to organise public engagement and
training events. They, or someone else in their neighbourhood, will also
need to look into coordinating transport to get as many people as possible
to Ratcliffe for the 17th.
If people feel that's a bit of a big ask, then it'd still be brilliant if
they could do any one task - transport perhaps, or flyering, or organising
one public meeting.
Contact the outreach team on outreach@climatecamp.org.uk for further info
and for a mobilisation pack and materials.
**Call Out for Transport**
To get people to the Great Climate Swoop transport is needed. We are
encouraging neighbourhoods and other groups coming to book minibuses to
bring people to Ratcliffe. Minibuses are more flexible and swoop friendly
than coaches. Once you have plans please contact:
outreach@climatecamp.org.uk with details and a contact so as we can put them
on the website and get loads more people along!
Things to bare in mind when planning transport: the action will start around
midday on the 17th so many neighbourhoods will be able to arrive on the day,
others will have to arrive within a few hours distance on the 16th (more
info on accomodation coming soon). It is safe to assume the action will not
finish until the evening of the 18th.
**Do you live in the North West of England?**
If you want to get involved in organising logistics, transport, outreach
or events in the Northwest - or just want to find out what is going on in
the Northwest with the Climate Swoop and the COP 15 mobilisation, please
email northwestclimateaction@gmail.com
**Fundraising**
Finance and Fundraising are looking for people and neighbourhoods to put
on benefits and fund-raisers for the swoop. If you would like more
information on how to do this, or have already done one and need to send
us the bounty please email bryonyht@googlemail.com
