"Big Society" initiatives in the Peak

Seems like everything can be rebranded "Big Society", but this article is an interesting summary of asset transfers and community activity in the Peak District, from Jim Dixon (leader of PDNPA):

Peak State?

This is a very interesting blog entry that draws a parallel between peak oil and the changing relationship between the community and the state.  Can't say that I agree with it all - if I ever vote Tory you can chop my legs off - but it, and the comments at the bottom, are well worth a read.

There's a serious question here too - how do we take advantage of the current drive for this Big Society to build a community that is resilient against oil production decline?
